A quieter old residential neighbourhood east of the centre, sloping down to the river between the Nehru Stadium and the Sukreswar area. Uzanbazar has a number of small heritage Assamese houses, a few colonial bungalows, and the Sankaradeva Bhawan, an important cultural centre.
The riverfront promenade here — the Brahmaputra Heritage Centre — has been redeveloped with paved walkways, food stalls, and views across to the north bank. It is the most pleasant stretch of the riverfront and where locals come for an evening walk. Take an auto from Paltan Bazaar.
