A small Tantric temple in the Latasil locality near Jor Pukhury tanks, dedicated to Ugratara — a fierce form of the Mother Goddess associated with the Buddhist Tara as well as with Hindu Tantra. The temple is one of the more obscure Shakti shrines of the region and a much quieter alternative to Kamakhya for getting a sense of the city's Tantric tradition. The structure is 18th-century Ahom, built by Swargadeo Siva Singha.
There is no idol in the sanctum — only a pit said to contain the goddess's navel. The atmosphere is more local than touristic; non-Hindus are generally welcome but the inner shrine is sometimes restricted. Quick visit, half an hour. Combine with a walk around Dighalipukhuri.
