Hazira Maqbara

Quiet Mughal-era tomb in Vadodara, built for Qutb-ud-din Muhammad Khan and his son.

Hazira Maqbara, also called Qutbuddin Hajiro, is a lesser-visited Mughal tomb in Vadodara. It holds the graves of Qutb-ud-din Muhammad Khan, tutor to Prince Salim, and his son Naurang Khan, with carved details and an octagonal form that reward a closer look.

The site is quieter than Vadodara's palace circuit, which is part of its appeal. Come for a compact lesson in the city's older Islamic architecture, and give yourself a few minutes to look at the jali work and inscriptions rather than just photographing the exterior.
