☰Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum

In a building on the Laxmi Vilas Palace grounds, this museum holds the Gaekwad family's private art collection -- and it is genuinely remarkable for an Indian provincial city. European oil paintings include works attributed to Murillo, Raphael, and Titian, alongside marble sculptures by Felici, copies of Greek and Roman statuary, Chinese and Japanese porcelain, and French furniture. The standout for most visitors is the room of Raja Ravi Varma portraits painted for the Gaekwad family -- some of the artist's finest work. Open 10:30 to 17:30, closed Monday and public holidays.
