Chennai Lighthouse stands near Marina Beach on the Bay of Bengal. The present tower was built in 1977, replacing older lights that served the Chennai coast.
Unlike many working lighthouses, it is open to visitors, making it a good stop for a higher view over the beach, the sea, and the dense city blocks behind the waterfront.
