Victoria Public Hall — also known as Town Hall — is one of the grandest colonial public buildings in Chennai, a baroque confection built in 1887 to mark Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. The building stands in the Rajaji Salai area of George Town, its ornate facade facing the street with columns, arched windows, and a prominent clock tower.
The hall was the city's main venue for public meetings, civic functions, and cultural events through the colonial era. It has since been used for various government purposes. The exterior is the main attraction — the building's scale and decorative ambition make it one of the more impressive pieces of Victorian civic architecture in South India.
It's best seen as part of a walk through the George Town area, combined with the Madras High Court (a short distance to the south) and the surrounding colonial streetscape.
