Edward Elliot's Beach is Chennai's quieter southern beach, popular in the evening but usually calmer than Marina Beach. The long strip of sand has lit walking areas and a relaxed local feel.
The beach is also a useful anchor for visiting the Velankanni Church and Ashtalakshmi Temple near its southern end. Come around sunset, when the heat eases and the promenade is at its liveliest.
