Wasif Manzil

Restored nawab palace near Hazarduari, rebuilt after earthquake damage.

Wasif Manzil is a smaller palace south of Hazarduari, associated with Nawab Wasif Ali Mirza Khan. The earlier building was damaged by earthquake, and the restored structure shows a more intimate late-nawab taste than the grand public theatre of Hazarduari.

It is best seen as part of the wider Nizamat circuit. The palace, the river, and the nearby ruins of Begum Mahal help fill in Murshidabad's later nawab period, when political power had faded but courtly display had not vanished.
