Hisaya-odori is the wide central boulevard of Sakae, with a green park strip running for over a kilometre down its middle. After decades as a slightly tired civic space, the southern half was reborn in 2020 as Hisaya-odori Park Mirai, an open-air retail and food promenade designed by Nikken Sekkei. Two storeys of glass-fronted shops and cafes sit along the green strip; lawns, water features and event terraces fill the gaps.
The Mirai Tower at the north end is the historic anchor; underground passages link the park to Sakae station and the surrounding department stores. In summer the park hosts beer gardens and live music; in winter, an illumination festival lights the whole length of the boulevard.
