Dhammayazika Pagoda sits away from the densest temple clusters, which is part of its appeal. Built under King Narapatisithu in the late twelfth century, it has an unusual pentagonal plan, with five shrine projections rather than the more familiar four-sided arrangement.
The pagoda works well as a late-afternoon stop on a wider Bagan circuit. Its scale is impressive without being overwhelming, and the surrounding plain gives you room to see the monument as part of Bagan's larger landscape rather than just another brick silhouette.
