Tant Kyi Taung Pagoda

Tant Kyi Taung Pagoda stands on a hill across the Irrawaddy from Old Bagan, giving a wide view back over the plain of temples. Reaching it takes more effort than most Bagan sights: first a boat from near Bu Paya, then either a steep walk or a local vehicle up the hill.

That extra distance is the point. It works as a half-day trip when you want a broader sense of Bagan's landscape, especially outside the wet season when the path is easier.
