Subic Bay Jet Monument

A retired US Navy jet fighter mounted on a concrete plinth near the freeport boulevard — a low-key but striking reminder of the era when this entire area was an American military base. The plinth carries a plaque explaining the aircraft's service history and the role of Subic Bay in US Pacific operations.

It is essentially a drive-by sight, but worth a brief stop on the way to or from one of the larger attractions. There are picnic tables in the surrounding park.

A story
The retired Vought F-8 Crusader on the plinth flew from the carriers that operated out of Subic during the Vietnam War. After the US withdrawal in 1992 the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority kept it as a reminder of the seven decades during which Subic was the busiest American naval base in the western Pacific.
