National Taiwan Arts Education Center

The National Taiwan Arts Education Center occupies the former Chienkung Shrine, a curious building that mixes Chinese, Japanese, and Western details. After World War II it was adapted for cultural use, and today it has exhibition rooms plus indoor and outdoor theatre spaces.

It is a good add-on to the Botanical Garden and National Museum of History next door. The architecture is the hook: the layered shrine history gives the building more character than a standard arts centre.
