Kültürpark (Culture Park)

Kültürpark is İzmir's central public park, a large green space in Alsancak that hosts the annual İzmir International Fair — one of the oldest running trade fairs in the world, established in 1936 on Atatürk's personal initiative. The park covers 421,000 square metres and contains exhibition halls, gardens, a zoo, restaurants, and an outdoor amphitheatre used for summer concerts.

Outside the fair season (late August to early September), the park functions as the city's main recreational space — popular with families, joggers, and chess players at all hours. The Olaf Palme Park section near Karşıyaka and the Human Rights Park near the harbour are separate but thematically connected green spaces that extend along the waterfront north of the main park.
