Izmir Teleferik climbs from Balcova into the wooded hills above the southern side of Izmir Bay. The ride is short, but the change in perspective is immediate: apartment districts and traffic fall away, and the bay opens up below.
At the top are terraces, picnic areas, and viewpoints rather than a single monument. It is best treated as a relaxed late-afternoon outing, especially in hot weather when the hillside air and shade are a welcome break from the centre.
