Mooloolaba

Sunshine Coast beach town with a sheltered north-facing beach and a working harbour precinct.

Mooloolaba is one of the Sunshine Coast's most popular beach towns, sitting about 100 km north of Brisbane on Queensland's coast. Mooloolaba Beach is a long, sheltered curve of golden sand that faces north, making it calmer than the more exposed surf breaks further up the coast. The Esplanade runs behind the beach with a strip of restaurants, cafes, and shops.

The Wharf on the harbour is where the local fishing fleet lands its catch, and the Mooloolaba Fish Market on the same wharf serves some of the freshest fish on the coast. SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast (formerly UnderWater World) is a well-regarded aquarium, particularly good for families. For something more active, you can kayak the Mooloolah River estuary, dive the ex-HMAS Brisbane wreck offshore, or walk the coastal path north toward Point Cartwright lighthouse for good views over the coast.
