Jardin Botanique de la Bastide

Modern right-bank botanical garden exploring Aquitaine landscapes beside the Garonne

The Jardin Botanique de la Bastide gives Bordeaux's right bank a quieter, greener reason to cross the Garonne. Opened in the 2000s as the newer branch of the city's botanical garden, it uses outdoor plots, greenhouses, and thematic landscapes to show plants from Bordeaux, Aquitaine, and comparable environments.

It is not as instantly graceful as the Jardin Public, but it is more interesting if you care about ecology, urban planting, or the landscapes behind the region's wine-and-river image. Pair it with a walk along the Bastide quays for a different view back to the old city.
