Abbaye Saint-Paul

12th-century Premonstratensian abbey, now the town hall

The Abbey of Saint-Paul was founded in the 12th century just outside the medieval walls. After secularisation in the Revolution the abbey buildings were taken over by the municipality and now house the Hôtel de Ville and several town offices.

The 18th-century rebuilding gives a fine classical façade; the courtyard is open during weekday hours and worth a quick look for the surviving carved doorways from the original abbey. The exterior is the main interest.
