Centre Mondial de la Paix

Peace and human rights museum, twin to the Mémorial de Verdun in spirit

The Centre Mondial de la Paix, des Libertés et des Droits de l'Homme is housed in the Episcopal Palace and is the civic counterpart to the Mémorial outside town — where the Mémorial commemorates the dead, the Peace Centre asks what to do with the memory.

Rotating temporary exhibitions cover topics from nuclear disarmament to refugee crises to colonial reckoning. The standing exhibitions on the construction of European peace and the role of Verdun in postwar Franco-German reconciliation are particularly strong. Allow an hour.
