A Gothic masterpiece built between 1270 and 1477, St. Lorenz is the largest church in Nuremberg. The interior is notable for Veit Stoss's carved Annunciation (1519) suspended above the high altar — an extraordinary wooden sculpture showing the angel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary enclosed in a rosary of medallions. Original 15th-century stained-glass windows survive in the choir.
