Way of Human Rights

Outdoor artwork of stone columns inscribed with articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Way of Human Rights is a public artwork outside the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, made from a line of white concrete columns, an oak tree, and a gateway. Each column carries one article from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in German and another language, turning the street into a quiet civic statement.

In Nuremberg, the location matters. A city tied so strongly to Nazi rallies and the postwar trials has chosen to make human rights visible in the everyday fabric of the old town. It is an easy stop between the museum, the Opernhaus area, and the western edge of the historic centre.
