The Dom, despite the name, has never been a cathedral seat. It was built in the 13th century as a Dominican monastery church and given its current form in the 1520s by Cardinal Albrecht of Brandenburg, who wanted a flashy upgrade for his collegiate court. The flat west front, the rounded gables, and the early-Renaissance trim are the result.
Inside, the church holds Cardinal Albrecht's series of standing saints by the workshop of Hans Witten, a remarkable set of early-16th-century stone sculptures. Concerts of early music are held here regularly. Free entry.
