A magnificently odd institution: a research collection of domesticated animals, housed in a former stable on the university's agricultural campus in the north of the city. Glass cases full of taxidermied poultry, pig skulls arranged by breed, and the skeletons of obscure cattle varieties.
It is open to the public but has the air of a working scientific archive that tolerates visitors. The labelling is mostly German. For anyone curious about the strange byways of natural history, it is one of the more unusual places in central Germany.
