The defining building of Gubbio's skyline: a Gothic palace built between 1332 and 1349 to a design by Angelo da Orvieto, with a crenellated bell tower rising over 60 metres. It now houses the Civic Museum, whose centrepiece is the Tavole Iguvine — seven bronze tablets inscribed in the Umbrian language during the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. They are the most complete text in any ancient Italic language, and were found in a field near Gubbio in 1444. Worth seeing even if you are not normally drawn to inscribed bronze.
