A traditional katun — summer shepherd's settlement — on the upper pastures of Bjelasica, used by families from the surrounding villages who move their flocks up here from late May to mid-September. Vranjak is one of the more accessible katuns, with a cluster of wooden huts, a rough track for 4x4 access, and a couple of families who put visitors up for a night in basic but warm cabins.
Coming for the night gets you home-made yogurt and kajmak (clotted cream) for breakfast, fresh trout or roast lamb for dinner, and the sound of cowbells and wolves at the edges of the dark. Arrange through a Kolašin tour operator (Eco Tours Montenegro is one); €30-50 a night with meals.
