The largest of Apeldoorn's city parks, on the western edge of town where the urban grid meets the Veluwe forest. A hundred and ten hectares of old beech and oak woodland, sandy paths, a fishing pond, and the kind of dappled afternoon light that makes the Veluwe a national favourite — all within ten minutes' cycle from the centre.
The park is also home to the Apenheul primate park, the open-air swimming pool, and a small forest playground. On weekends families come with picnic blankets and the paths fill with joggers; midweek it is quiet enough to forget you are in a city of 160,000.
