The Hoog Buurlo sheepfold is a quiet Veluwe stop rather than a big-ticket attraction. The draw is the setting: heath, sand paths, forest edges, and a traditional schaapskooi that still makes sense in a landscape historically maintained by grazing.
It is best reached as part of a walk or cycle ride, not as a drive-up photo stop. Go for the open heathland, the rural architecture, and the sense that Apeldoorn's royal and urban sights sit very close to a much older countryside.
