Excalibur Climbing Wall

Tallest freestanding climbing wall in the world, in nearby Bjoeks

A grey 37-metre concrete tower in the southern suburb of Bjoeks, Excalibur is — according to its operators — the tallest freestanding artificial climbing wall in the world. The sword-shaped structure was opened in 1992 and is dotted with routes from beginner to brutally difficult, including a 9-metre overhang that has defeated all but a handful of climbers.

Open to the public; gear can be rented on site. The Bjoeks climbing centre at the base also has indoor walls, a bouldering hall, and a high-rope course. Bus 6 from the centre.
