A quiet Renaissance garden behind the Prinsenhof, the former residence of the Stadtholder, on the edge of the historic centre. The garden was laid out in 1626 in the style of the formal Dutch garden: low box hedges, symmetrical beds, a rose garden, and a herb garden, with a sundial bearing a Latin motto that translates as "I count only the sunny hours."
The garden is free, mostly empty, and feels far older than it does. The Theatercafé in the corner makes it a good lunch stop in summer. Closed in winter.
