Fjærland is a small village at the end of Fjærlandsfjord, where the Sognefjord system narrows toward the ice of Jostedalsbreen. The setting is almost theatrical: dark water, green walls of mountain, white glacier tongues, and a little settlement gathered around the old Mundal shore.
The village has two excellent hooks. The Norwegian Glacier Museum explains the ice and climate story well, while Bøyabreen gives you a close look at a glacier tongue without needing a full expedition.
Fjærland is also Norway's book town. In summer, second-hand books spill through old shops, sheds, and self-service shelves, so you can move between fjord views and book browsing with very little effort. It is an easy yes if you are already in Sognefjord and have a spare day.
