Nordlandet Church, completed in 1914, is the oldest of Kristiansund's surviving churches and one of the few buildings in the city that pre-dates the 1940 bombing. Built in a historicist style with a prominent tower, it sits on the island of Nordlandet and serves as a visual counterpoint to the modernist Kirkelandet Church across the water. The interior is relatively plain — Lutheran churches in Norway rarely go in for ornament — but the building itself has solidity and age that the post-war city largely lacks.
The church is in a quiet residential area of Nordlandet; getting there means crossing the Nordsund Bridge or taking the sundbåt. Services on Sundays; generally open to visitors at other times.
