Sørsund Bridge

The Sørsund Bridge connects the main island of Kirkelandet to Innlandet across the Sørsundet strait. It is the most central of the three bridges linking Kristiansund's islands, and most visitors cross it on foot when visiting the Klippfiskmuseet and the old waterfront on Innlandet. The bridge is not a landmark in itself, but the view from mid-span across the inner harbour — the old warehouse rooflines on one side, the functionalist town centre on the other — is one of the better angles on the city.

Walking the bridge rather than taking the sundbåt gives you a slightly higher vantage point and a better sense of the channel between the islands. The alternative, the Nordsund Bridge to the north, connects Kirkelandet to Nordlandet and is a longer crossing with views out toward the open sea.
