Księży Młyn is the most complete expression of Łódź's textile-industrial past: a nineteenth-century factory district with red-brick mills, workers' housing, owner villas, and service buildings laid out as a near self-contained city. It explains Łódź better than any single museum can.
Today the area mixes restoration, apartments, cultural spaces, and post-industrial atmosphere. Walk it slowly for the scale of the brick architecture and the social geography: factory, mansion, and workers' rows all within a few minutes of each other.
