Leopold Kindermann's Villa is one of Lodzs rewarding Art Nouveau houses, built for the industrial bourgeois world that made the city rich. Its decorative facade, plant motifs, and asymmetry stand out even along Piotrkowska, where architectural competition was part of the game.
It is mainly an exterior stop, but a good one for anyone tracing Lodzs factory-owner palaces and villas. The building helps show that the citys industrial past was not only brick mills and smokestacks, but also theatrical private architecture.
