Hala Targowa (Market Hall)

Address Piaskowa 17, 50-156 Wrocław

A 1908 covered market hall in red brick with a soaring vaulted reinforced-concrete roof — one of the earliest large public buildings in Europe to use the technique. Inside, two floors of stalls sell fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, meats, baked goods and inexpensive household and clothing.

The hall is busiest on Saturday mornings. Walking it slowly is one of the best ways to get a feel for everyday Wrocław outside the tourist core; the architecture is also worth attention even if you do not buy anything.
