A small island in the Odra, north of the old town between the Cathedral Island and the university. Wyspa Słodowa has become the informal social ground of Wrocław's student population — in warm months it fills with picnickers, buskers, and groups drinking cheap beer on the grass, sometimes thousands at a weekend.
There is nothing built on the island; the appeal is precisely the empty meadow surrounded by the city. A few pop-up bars set up on the embankments in summer. Late evening is the most atmospheric time to visit, but daytime walking is also pleasant.
