The Tver State United Museum is the broadest local-history stop in the city. Its collections cover archaeology, folk culture, the medieval principality, and the imperial period when Tver sat on the road between the capitals.
Do not expect a blockbuster museum. Its value is context: after an hour here, the palace, merchant streets, and Volga embankments make more sense.
