The squat fortified tower at the southern end of the Roman bridge was built in the late 12th century by the Almohads to defend the river crossing. Today it houses the Museo Vivo de al-Andalus, an audioguide-led walk through the convivencia of medieval Cordoba — the centuries when Muslim, Jewish and Christian scholars worked side by side. The exhibits are dated, but the rooftop view back across the bridge to the Mezquita is the best in the city.
