Renaissance palace built over excavated Roman theatre ruins

Address Plaza de Jerónimo Páez 7
Phone 957 35 55 17

Set in a Renaissance palace built directly over the ruins of a Roman theatre — you can see the excavated theatre in the basement — this is one of the most rewarding small museums in Andalusia. The collection runs from prehistoric Iberian sculpture (the bulls and lions are remarkable) through Roman mosaics and inscriptions to Visigothic and Islamic-era pieces, including objects recovered from Medina Azahara. Free for EU citizens, €1.50 for others.
