Calle León y Castillo

The pedestrianized Calle León y Castillo is Arrecife's commercial spine, running for about half a kilometre from the seafront inland through the old town. Small shops, family-run pastelerías, jewellers, and bars line the street.

Compared with the resort towns elsewhere on the island, the shops here cater to local residents rather than tourists. A useful stop for everyday Canarian things — a decent bag of gofio flour, a bottle of malvasía wine, or local cheese.
