Bisse du Levron

Restored irrigation channel, an easy two-hour walk above the village

The bisses are mediaeval irrigation channels that carried water from glacier streams to the dry villages of the Valais — and the Bisse du Levron, restored in the 1990s, is the most accessible of the surviving examples around Verbier. The channel hugs the contour at about 1,800 metres, and the path beside it is nearly flat for its full length.

The hike takes 2–2.5 hours one way from La Croix de Coeur down to Levron. Combine it with the Savoleyres chairlift down for an easy half-day, or carry on into the village of Vollèges for a longer outing. The waymarking is excellent and the views down into the Val de Bagnes are continuous.
