A magnificent Victorian island bar in dark wood and ornate plaster, opened in 1902 and barely altered since. A long line of cask ales on the pumps, decent pub food upstairs, and a steady mix of locals, lawyers and lost tourists who realised Rose Street had quieter pubs than Princes Street.
