The Bow Bar is a proper pub: no music, no food, no slot machines, just excellent Scottish cask ales and a serious whisky collection displayed on shelves behind the bar. The Victorian interior is a single long room with a tiled bar and none of the heritage-kit that afflicts many Old Town pubs. The bar staff know the ales and can talk about them; the selection rotates with a focus on Scottish breweries. It gets busy in the evenings but is a peaceful place for an afternoon pint and a read of the paper.
