Parque Juarez

Parque Juarez is the heart of Xalapa — a terraced hillside garden set high above the city, with sweeping views down the valley when the clouds part. The park is beautifully planted with tropical trees, flower beds, and fountains, and the terrace walls drop away to reveal panoramas of the surrounding mountains and, on clear days, the snow-capped cone of Cofre de Perote in the distance.

The park is the city's social centre as much as a garden. On weekends, families and students fill the paths and benches, street food vendors ring the edges, and musicians often set up near the main fountain. The adjacent Palacio de Gobierno and Cathedral face onto the park, and the streets immediately surrounding it — Enriquez and Zamora — are lined with cafes, bookshops, and restaurants. It is the natural place to orient yourself when arriving in Xalapa.
