A sprawling park in central Phoenix with plenty of shade trees, picnic tables, and trails. It stays open until midnight, which makes it one of the few places in the city where you can be outside comfortably after dark during the summer months. Enchanted Island, a small amusement park inside with rides for young children, is a reliable option for families. There's also a playground, swimming pool, basketball and racquetball courts, and a softball field. The park sits beside the Encanto-Palmcroft historic district, worth a walk through for its 1920s and 1930s architecture.
