The Daisy Bates House is one of Little Rock's essential Civil Rights landmarks. Daisy and L.C. Bates used the house as a meeting place and planning base while supporting the Little Rock Nine during the 1957 integration crisis at Central High School.
The house is not a conventional museum stop with a grand facade. Its power comes from the domestic scale: a private home pulled into national history because the people inside it refused to step back when the city was under pressure to do exactly that.
