MacArthur Park

MacArthur Park is the oldest public park in Little Rock and the heart of the Quapaw Quarter's cultural district. It is named for General Douglas MacArthur, who was born in the Arsenal Building on the park's grounds in 1880 — the only US Army post in the country that used a former military arsenal as its core building.

The park now houses the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. It is a pleasant green space surrounded by Victorian and early-20th-century architecture, and a good place to orient yourself before exploring the Quapaw Quarter's residential streets.
