Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

Moving tribute to Black baseball history with life-sized bronzes

Address 1616 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108

Kansas City was home to the Kansas City Monarchs, one of the most storied franchises in the Negro Leagues, and this museum does justice to the full history of Black baseball in America. Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and Buck O'Neil all played here; O'Neil later became a passionate advocate for this museum and its mission. The exhibits are moving without being maudlin, and the reconstructed "Field of Legends" — life-sized bronze statues of players at their positions — is genuinely affecting. One of the best sports museums in the country.
