The Forum Shops at Caesars

Upscale mall under a fake Roman sky, with talking statues

Address 3500 Las Vegas Blvd South

The Forum Shops opened in 1992 as the first themed shopping mall on the Strip and remains one of the highest-grossing per-square-foot retail spaces in the United States. The interior is a Roman fantasia: marble columns, fountains, a painted barrel-vaulted "sky" that runs through a constant dawn-to-dusk cycle, and animatronic statues that come to life on the hour at the Fall of Atlantis fountain.

Stores run the high-end mall lineup — Versace, Burberry, Gucci, Apple — plus a handful of unusual spots like an FAO Schwarz outpost. Worth walking through even if you are not shopping; the design has aged into something that feels properly retro-Vegas in the best way. Connected directly to Caesars Palace on one end and the Mirage's old footprint on the other.

A story
The painted-sky ceiling shifts from sunrise through to dusk and back again every three hours, a continuous loop that has been running since the mall opened in 1992 — though most shoppers never notice the cycle because they assume the sky is static.
