New York-New York Hotel and Casino

Manhattan-skyline replica with a roller coaster wrapped around it

Address 3790 Las Vegas Blvd South

New York-New York opened in 1997 with a façade that compresses the Manhattan skyline into a single building: the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty, and a half-scale Brooklyn Bridge are all here. The Big Apple Coaster runs around the outside of the building and through the casino, briefly making it the only Manhattan skyline you can ride.

Inside, the casino takes the Greenwich Village treatment: faux brownstones, brick alleyways, a pedestrian "Times Square" with food carts, and an arcade designed to look like a subway station. The Park, an outdoor pedestrian promenade between New York-New York and Park MGM, is one of the most pleasant walking spaces on the Strip when the weather cooperates.

A story
The half-scale Statue of Liberty in front of the hotel was claimed in a U.S. Postal Service stamp design in 2010 — but the photo on the stamp showed the Vegas replica rather than the actual statue. The Postal Service quietly paid the resort's sculptor a settlement after the mistake came to light.
